There is a moment during almost every consultation when a patient looks at me and asks a question that seems simple, but actually opens the door to a much deeper conversation.
“Gabs, I have heard about skin boosters and polynucleotides… but I don’t really understand the difference. Which one do I need?”
What I have learned over the years is that this question is rarely just about treatments. It is usually about something much more personal. It is about confidence, ageing gracefully, wanting to look like yourself but refreshed, and often about feeling slightly overwhelmed by the amount of information and misinformation online.
Modern aesthetic medicine has changed dramatically. Patients are no longer searching for dramatic transformations. Instead, they are looking for treatments that quietly improve the quality of their skin, restore vitality and help them feel comfortable in their own reflection again.

Two of the most talked-about treatments in this new era of regenerative aesthetics are skin boosters and polynucleotides. Although they are often mentioned together, they work in very different ways, and understanding those differences can completely change how we approach skin rejuvenation.
The Moment Patients Start Noticing Their Skin Changing

Most patients do not suddenly wake up one morning feeling they need treatment. It usually begins subtly.
The skin starts to feel slightly duller.
Makeup no longer sits as smoothly.
Fine lines seem to appear even when the face is relaxed.
The skin may feel thinner, less elastic or less hydrated than it once did.
Ageing is not just about wrinkles. It is about changes happening deep within the skin. Collagen levels begin to decline, hydration reduces and the skin gradually loses its ability to repair itself as efficiently as it once did.
This is where treatments like skin boosters and polynucleotides become incredibly valuable, but each one supports the skin in a different way.
Understanding Skin Boosters
When I explain skin boosters to patients, I often describe them as a way of reminding the skin how to hold onto hydration and glow again.
Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to improve the quality, texture and hydration of the skin rather than altering facial shape. They work by delivering hyaluronic acid into the superficial layers of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule that attracts and retains water, helping the skin appear smoother, fresher and more luminous.
Many patients notice that after a course of skin booster treatments, their skin feels softer, makeup applies more easily and the overall complexion appears brighter and more even. It is not about looking different , it is about looking like a healthier version of yourself.

In my own clinical experience, I often choose advanced skin boosters that also contain regenerative ingredients. These formulations do not simply hydrate the skin temporarily; they stimulate collagen production and improve long-term skin resilience. The goal is always to create results that continue improving even after the treatment journey has finished.
Discovering Polynucleotides
Polynucleotides are a relatively newer treatment and are often described as regenerative or biostimulatory therapies. Unlike skin boosters, which focus heavily on hydration, polynucleotides work by encouraging the skin to repair and strengthen itself.
They are derived from purified DNA fragments and act by stimulating fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. At the same time, they help improve blood supply and reduce inflammation within the skin.
I often recommend polynucleotides for patients whose skin feels fragile, thin or damaged, particularly when ageing or sun exposure has affected skin structure. They can be particularly effective around delicate areas such as the under-eye region, where skin quality plays a major role in how rested or tired a person appears.
One of the things I love most about polynucleotides is their ability to improve skin health gradually and naturally. Patients sometimes describe the results as looking less tired or more rested rather than looking “treated,” which is always the goal in my practice
Why Comparing Treatments Is Not Always About Choosing One Over the Other
Patients often assume aesthetic treatments are about choosing between options, almost like selecting items from a menu. In reality, skin ageing is far more complex than that.
Hydration, collagen loss, inflammation, environmental damage and lifestyle factors all contribute to how skin ages. Because of this, modern aesthetic medicine is increasingly moving towards combination approaches that address multiple aspects of skin health simultaneously.
In my clinic, I frequently combine treatments in a carefully structured journey. Skin boosters may be used to restore hydration and radiance, while polynucleotides support deeper skin regeneration. When treatments are layered thoughtfully, results tend to appear more natural and last longer.
This philosophy forms the foundation of Combination Therapy — an approach focused on understanding each patient’s skin rather than applying the same treatment to everyone.
The Experience of Treatment
Both skin boosters and polynucleotides are injectable treatments performed during a clinic appointment. The procedure is usually well tolerated, and most patients return to normal daily activities quickly.
Small areas of redness or tiny bumps can appear temporarily as the product settles into the skin. These typically resolve within a few days and are a normal part of the treatment process.
Most patients require a short course of treatments followed by maintenance sessions to preserve results. I always explain to patients that skin rejuvenation is not about one single appointment. It is about supporting the skin consistently as it changes over time.
How I Decide Which Treatment to Recommend
Every consultation I perform begins with understanding not just the skin, but the person sitting in front of me. Lifestyle, stress levels, skincare routine, previous treatments and personal goals all influence which treatment will deliver the best results.
Some patients benefit most from restoring hydration and glow, while others require deeper regenerative support. Many patients achieve the most natural outcomes when treatments are combined and tailored specifically to them.
The most rewarding part of my work is seeing patients regain confidence in their skin in a way that feels subtle, elegant and authentic.
A Personal Reflection
Over the years, I have seen aesthetic medicine evolve from focusing on volume and structure to focusing on skin health and regeneration. I believe this shift represents a much more holistic and responsible approach to ageing.
My passion has always been helping patients look refreshed and confident without looking altered. I want my patients to be recognised for how well they look, not for the treatments they have had.
At Beauttitude, every treatment journey is built around the belief that skin rejuvenation should feel personal, thoughtful and medically guided.
My Philosophy
